About brand
Kulfi Beauty started with a simple problem: its founder, Priyanka Ganjoo, spent years working inside major beauty companies, including Estée Lauder and Ipsy, and still couldn’t find products that matched her own skin tone or told a story she recognized. Shade ranges stopped short of covering South Asian skin, and campaigns rarely featured South Asian faces at all. Rather than wait for the industry to catch up, she left her corporate job in 2019 and spent the following months talking directly to the community the brand would serve, gathering feedback through surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one conversations to shape what Kulfi would become.
The name comes from a South Asian frozen dessert that Ganjoo grew up eating during summers in Delhi, and that sense of nostalgia and celebration carries through every part of the brand. Shades and product names draw from personal memory and cultural tradition, from lip colors named after fruit found in South Asian kitchens to a brow gel inspired by the practice of hair oiling. The color palette leans into the vibrancy Ganjoo remembers from saris and festivals growing up, translated into everyday makeup that’s meant to be worn, not just admired.
What sets Kulfi apart isn’t just representation for its own sake. It’s a formula-first approach: shades are built and tested specifically on deep, warm, and rich skin tones rather than adapted from a narrower base range.
